Hydraulic equipment of many types is widely used in every sphere of industry: machinery using it varying from bulldozers to injection molding machines, from lifting jacks to pile drivers. For efficient operation of such equipment it is essential that there is no leakage of hydraulic fluid past the seal; any such leakage being costly in lost fluid and also making it difficult, if not impossible, to produce the necessary hydraulic pressure.
Scores are caused due to solid particle entrapment between the ram and the seal area. The old method of repairing these was to disassemble the unit, send the ram out to the chrome shop to have the chrome stripped off the affected area. Then the piece would be sent to the weld shop to have the damaged areas welded up and turned back down. After that process, the ram would need to go back for re-chroming. This process takes a considerable amount of time.
Belzona 1111 (Super Metal) has been used for over 60 years to repair much of this type of equipment and return it to service with minimal downtime. With Belzona, the process is simpler and can be completed typically in a day and because Belzona 1111 (Super Metal) is non porous there is no need to re-chrome a repaired area. This repair can be done in the shop or on site.
